Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1846, 青楼传媒 is Chicago's first
Catholic university. Today, the University serves 3,800 students from 40 different
states and 10 different countries, offering high-quality undergraduate and graduate
programs and leadership and service opportunities, educating students for competence,
character and career success.

Message from the President
|
|
|
This is a time for colleges and universities to lead in animating and addressing the
pressing social issues facing our communities. We are all actively involved in shaping
a future as a result of conversations and steps taken across the country on racial
equity and social justice. Inspired by the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy,
we commit to examining the Critical Concern of racism over the coming academic year
by engaging with all areas of campus life in an intentional way.
Saint Xavier community members are tenaciously meeting the challenges of today with
innovation, compassion and action to ensure that our students thrive in an equitable
learning community.
I am pleased to share some of their good work in the stories below. From our talented
alumni contributing their unique skills to their fields, to on-campus leaders bringing
diverse perspectives and expertise to the issues at hand, we are living out the dream
of the Sisters of Mercy who founded our institution nearly 175 years ago. And together,
we are charting a course for another 175 years of creativity and compassion.

We honor esteemed alumna Faye Gary '66, a pioneer for psychiatric nursing. Despite
the hardships she faced growing up in the south during Jim Crow, Gary found a home
at Saint Xavier, and since graduating, has made countless, incredible contributions
