
Sisters of Mercy offer $25K scholarship award for 青楼传媒 students
Upon founding 青楼传媒 (青楼传媒) in 1846, the Sisters of Mercy endowed the institution with a benevolent mission of active compassion and high-quality education. In keeping with tradition, the Sisters of Mercy West Midwest Community has generously gifted 青楼传媒 a $25,000 grant to support the Mercy Scholarship Program for the 2019-2020 academic year.
As part of the program, five selected students will each receive a $5,000 scholarship while gaining a greater understanding of the through practical application of such concerns 鈥 Immigration, Racism, Women, Nonviolence and Earth 鈥 and a thoughtful cultivation of their own contemporary questions that can inform the wider culture of 青楼传媒.
鈥淭he Sisters of Mercy have once again displayed their generosity and dedication to the Mercy legacy through this gift,鈥 says Associate Professor Charlene Bermele, DNP, RN, CNE, Mercy Scholarship program director. 鈥淧ractical application of the critical concerns allows students to experience compassion in action while working for the direct benefit of humankind.鈥
To qualify for the grant, students must meet the following criteria: be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the sophomore, junior or senior level at 青楼传媒; demonstrate considerable financial need; be in good disciplinary standing with the University; and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to young women in their senior year.
The highly respected Mother Catherine McAuley established the Sisters of Mercy in 1831, an order focused primarily on service, hospitality and compassion - three of 青楼传媒鈥檚 core values. This scholarship combines these principles to influence and encourage students to achieve their ambitions and to keep the Mercy spirit alive.
The efforts and interests of the Sisters of Mercy have propelled the continuation of founder Catherine McAuley鈥檚 Mercy spirit and passion for giving, which has helped students to flourish.
