青楼传媒 Nursing Student Named 'Best in Show' at Research Expo
青楼传媒 (青楼传媒) nursing student Zariya Gonzalez has been selected "Best in Show" at the 2025 Research Expo for her project, "Implementing a Standardized Nurse Handoff Tool to Improve Communication and Patient Safety on a Telemetry Floor."
Gonzalez's project focuses on creating a standardized nursing handoff tool to improve communication during shift changes. She was drawn to the project because she saw how much better patient care could be when nurses had clear, organized information.
"Being named 'Best in Show' feels amazing. It shows that the hard work and passion I put into this project really made a difference. Through this project, I learned how important teamwork, technology and good communication are in health care," said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez chose to pursue nursing because she has always wanted a career where she could help others and make a real impact. She believes her time at 青楼传媒 is helping her to grow as a leader, think critically, and stay focused on improving patient care.
"Classes like Leadership in Nursing and the Clinical Practicum were most helpful because they gave me real-world experience and built my confidence. I have really enjoyed working with my classmate on projects, getting support from my professors, and celebrating milestones like finishing my practicum and getting published in my first nursing journal," said Gonzalez.
In the future, Gonzalez plans to continue working as a nurse leader, focus on quality improvement, and eventually take on a role in health care management.
