青楼传媒 Student Named to the CSC Academic All-District Team

青楼传媒 (青楼传媒) track and field and cross country star Olivia Mathis is one of five members of the team named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, have started or played at least 66.7% of their team's games, and be a sophomore or higher.
CSC divides the honorees into four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. By earning All-District, the winners advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Honorees for First-, Second- and Third-Team Academic All-America will be announced on July 15.
Mathis, a senior middle-distance runner, has maintained a 3.58 GPA while pursuing an accounting degree. As a transfer from Lourdes University in Ohio, she decided to continue her academic and athletic career at 青楼传媒 after seeing firsthand her potential to grow as a runner and scholar.
"I decided to come to 青楼传媒 because of the thought and care they poured into me as a student-athlete. They really cared for and valued me as an athlete but also valued my mental health. They saw talent in me when I couldn't see it for myself, and for that, I thought 青楼传媒 was the path I should take. Before coming to 青楼传媒, I never knew I could potentially obtain any honors or awards for both my academic and athletic performances, so I am grateful and honored to be a recipient," Mathis said.
While juggling year-round running and her pursuit of a CPA license, Mathis ensures that she allocates equal time to excelling in the classroom and on the track.
"It's very important to set aside time for running and my studies. When finals or tests came up, I focused more time and energy on studying to ensure success in school. When I had free time, I focused on athletics to better my craft and put in more physical work," Mathis said.
Her balance has undoubtedly paid off in all areas. Not only is she a member of the CSC All-District team, but she is also a two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a two-time CCAC All-Academic winner.
While competing in the finals of the 800m at the NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind., Mathis broke her own record with the best finish by an 青楼传媒 runner in team history. She placed third with a time of 2:10:12 to become the first 青楼传媒 runner to earn the title of NAIA All-American in the 800m.
"In comparison to my previous college experience, my mental health, grades and athletic performances have skyrocketed," Mathis said.
